POMD SKIMMER
Surface Oil Recovery for Produced Water Ponds
The DHI Pond Skimmer is a floating surface recovery system designed to remove free oil and floating hydrocarbons from produced water ponds and storage containments. Built entirely from stainless steel, the system delivers corrosion resistance, durability, and reliable long-term field performance.
The floating design automatically tracks water level changes and surface oil thickness, maintaining the suction inlet at the optimal depth for continuous recovery.
How It Works
• A 12 inch suction inlet is positioned just below the fluid surface where free oil accumulates
• A flexible suction hose connects the skimmer to a self-priming pump located onshore
• The pump continuously draws surface fluid, capturing oil sheen and floating hydrocarbons
• Typical skim rates of 4 to 8 barrels per minute optimize oil recovery while limiting excess water intake
Separation and Recovery
• Skimmed fluid is routed to staged separation tanks
• The first tank captures recovered oil for collection
• Subsequent tanks allow residual oil and solids to settle
• Clarified water is recirculated, reused, or sent to disposal as required
• Recovered oil is returned to production or sent for further processing
System Features
• All stainless steel floating construction
• Stable three-float platform for consistent surface tracking
• Adjustable positioning using shore-mounted drag lines
• Long umbilical hose for flexible pond placement
• Simple mechanical design for continuous operation
• Integrates with DHI Centurion separation systems
